Oyo State government has cancelled 2019/2020 session Third Term and Promotion Examination in the state as result of Coronavirus pandemic that necessitated the prolong lockdown of movement and activities in Nigeria in the attempt to curb the spread of the notorious disease.
This was made known in a Press Release signed by the State’s Honorable Commissioner for Education , Science and Technology – Barrister Olasunkanmi Olaleye at the end of the State Executive Council meeting on Tuesday.
The State Executive Council also approved the academic calendar to guide resumption of schools and other associated educational activities in the State.
According to the New Academic Calendar, promotion of students, for all affected classes, will now be determined by previous First and Second Term Continuous Assessment while Primary 6, JSS 3 and SSS 3 students will proceed on holiday from 30th of July and resume for their Examination
Olaleye stated further that the State Executive Council also approved that the Council Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) should be conducted between 10th and 18th August 2020,Competitive Entrance Examination into the Schools of Science to come up on the 19th August 2020 and Placement/Screening Test to JSS1 be fixed for 20th August 2020.
Placement Test into Technical Colleges was also fixed for 28th August 2020 while SSS 3 will resume for their Examination as soon as WAEC announce the new date for the examination.
The Oyo State Executive Council at its meeting today 21st of July 2020 has approved the academic calendar to guide resumption of schools and other associated educational activities in the State.
According to the approved calendar, Third Term 2019/2020 session has been cancelled and promotion of students, for all affected classes, will now be determined by First and Second Term Continuous Assessment.
The 2020/21 academic session will commence on 12th September,2020 and ends on 30th July 2021.
The Press Release further stated that “The 2020/21 academic session , according to the calendar approved by the State Council was also approved as follows;
First Term- 12th September to 18th December 2020
Second Term- 11th January to 9th April 2021
Third Term- 3rd May to 30th July 2021″
